At Not Your Typical Line Dance, we believe movement should be joyful, welcoming, and accessible to everyone. Our low impact line dancing classes are designed with older adults in mind, simple enough to enjoy without stress, yet engaging enough to keep you moving with purpose.
What to Expect in a Class
-
Enjoy the music and movement without the pressure of memorizing complicated steps
-
Two variations for every dance so all levels feel comfortable (including seated versions)
-
Special requests welcome — we can create dances from your favorite songs
-
A fun, welcoming environment led by instructor Tisha Littlejohn, who makes learning easy and enjoyable
Line dancing is more than just movement, it’s good for both body and mind. Classes help strengthen balance, improve coordination, and provide mental stimulation, all while creating an uplifting and social atmosphere.
Entertainment Option for Communities
Not all residents may want to get up and dance, and that’s perfectly fine! We also offer a line dance entertainment program designed to be just as fun for those who prefer to watch.
During these sessions, residents can:
-
Sit back and enjoy the energy and music of a live dance demonstration
-
Join in with simple chair-friendly moves at different points in the program
-
Step up (optional) for a short, simple group routine toward the end — just enough to make it fun and memorable without standing for too long
This flexible format ensures that everyone can take part at their own comfort level, whether that means watching, moving from their chair, or dancing along for a few moments.
